Some JW's are unaffected by their contact with the Borg for the same reasons that pigeons don't know they're alive.
by gubberningbody inwhy pigeons don't know they're alive.
have you ever tried hunting pigeons?
it is remarkably easy.

1 Thessalonians 5:2,3 - General Statement or Powerful Prophecy?
by lepermessiah inafter reading the posts regarding the "special" .
i remember growing up as a kid in the reagan 80's waiting for the ussr to nuke the usa, or vice-versa.
then, with glasnost and perestroika, so many jw's thought the long awaited cry of "peace and security" was imminent!

Terry many of the responses you give are reasonable, logical and make a lot of sense. Yet, so many can't get it. There are books out there that support both sides of bibical issues, such as the one being discussed here.
When a person uses the scriptures to support the scriptures that person is using circular reasoning, like a dog chasing its tail and going nowhere. That is why subjects like the end times are endless and going nowhere.
Misqouting Jesus, the book you recommended some time ago is an excellant example on what is happening with 1 Thessalonians 5:2,3.
Mistakes and changes have shaped the Bible we read today.
Scribes, scholars, and modern translators poured through thousands of manuscripts, copies of copies etc. to arrive at their own faith based conclusions and then make their own copy of who said what.
Confusion among the many Christian sects demonstrates that they don't have it right when they use the scriptures to support the scriptures and their belief systems.

Moral apologists for the creator will explain away evil by submitting that the potential for evil is a necessary consequence of free will. Wrong!
by gubberningbody infree will could have existed quite nicely with a myriad of options available for these free-will entities to freely choose from, with all of these being equally good..

Explain the horrible suffering of animals. They are innocent and can't understand why they suffer, get sick and die.
A God who permits this kind of evil on the innocents animal or human has a defect in his character.

Would You "Technically" Remain A Jehovah's Witness If There Were No Sanctions Involved?
by minimus inmany of us have drifted.
we know it isn't the truth but we might not have officially resigned as jws.
many catholics are nominal catholics and they are not shunned or avoided because of their not going to church or confession.. would you remain a jw if the organization didn't punish you for your inactivity?.

Mini, when I became a baptized member of the Watchtower aka. jw's, I wrote a letter that the society suggested to the Catholic Church, the religion of my birth, telling them to remove me from the church as I was no longer a believer in the Catholic Church.
When I faded and then moved away from the headquarters of the Watchtower I did no such thing.
I ask you this question, Where am I, what am I, which organization do I belong to?
In my mind I am disconnected to either one.
At this time in my life of 65 year old man I find myself to be an Agnostic.

The Stuff Of Thought. How the mind works in the way we use words. Every time we swear, we reveal something about humans emotions.
When we use innuendo to convey a bribe, a threat, or a sexual come - on ( rather than just blurt it out ), we disclose something about human relationships.
Our use of prepositions and tenses taps into peculiarly human concepts of space and time, and our nouns and verbs tap into mental modes of matter and causation.
Moral apologists use words that reveal something about certain core ideas, beliefs and concepts. Our language affects our thoughts.
We can get into trouble with the semantic niceties of our words. Why is bulk e-mail called spam?
Free will is a whole new stuff of thought. God is a whole new stuff of thought. Really what do we know about how the mind works, what is each ones agenda?

Judge, Another way, less adverserial, is to ask them: What is the most important scripture in Watchtower Theology?
Ans. Matthew 24: 45 --47.
Next: What is the most important event in Watchtower History?
Ans. Jesus' decision in 1919.
They will not be able to answer these two question, because if they do they will be shown how history proves that the application of those two questions do not apply to them.

In all the years since I made my dedication 33 years ago I never had or felt a personal experience with Jehovah where I could feel something that indicated Jehovah is and was my friend. I envisioned him sitting on his throne as I approached him in personal and congregational prayer.
I had hoped that the life I was living during those years would some way give me confirmation that Jehovah accepted me as his friend. Emptyness, and so, wait on the Jehovah was the cry of the day.

Do you atheists resent the believers on here and do you believers resent the atheists?
by Lozhasleft ini'm wondering how people feel about us exjws either becoming atheists or continuing on with a faith in god?.
do you get angry or frustrated at the opposing view?.
i'm new but i've seen different reactions to both on here...as for me i am happy to live and let live nowadays...its ok with me whatever people want to choose for themselves..... personally i still have enormous faith and love for god....if the jws couldnt destroy it i dont think much else could...?.

Knowledge is key. Belief systems are taught and take a leap of faith.
Both sides need to live and let live.
We grow as we grow as we get older.
Me I know that I really don't know, nor can I prove or disprove either side of the issues when it comes to belief or unbelief.
So, I take it one day at a time. Death will reveal the unanswerable questions that we all ask, or it will not.
Is there a God? Is there life after death? Each one of us answers those questions based on our culture, education, what we read and believe, and what we experience in our lives as we live it.
We also can change our minds and belief systems as we grow and experience other things as we age.
